Our understanding of colour is objectively and collectively established, yet we connect with it subjectively and personally. Therefore, it is too limiting if we only rely on standard colour names to express and communicate the layers of colours in an object. In this project, I would like to invite you to share with us your imagination and expression about colour.

Could you think of someone special, and imagine planning to personally dye a cardigan as a gift for him / her?  What colour would that be? Single colour, or with contrast or tonal colours?  And how would you describe that?

I have prepared a big range of colour strips by blending the 3 primary colours (magenta, cyan, yellow) with black and white. You could pick 1 – 3 strips as the key tones for the cardigan.

 

Unfortunately for some reason, that special person has become visually impaired the day before you present him / her this gift.  How would you now describe the layers of colours in this cardigan, so he / she could really feel / perceive it fully?

我以三原色：紅、藍、黃，加上黑白，調製了這百多條色樣，你可以從中揀選一至三種顏色，作為那件毛衣的主調色。

 

很可惜，就在送禮的前一天，那位摰好的親友突然失明了。現在你會怎樣形容這件毛衣的顏色，讓他／她看不見也能感受到它色彩的層次呢？
